Types of UPVC Door Handles
If your door handle made of uPVC is in need of replacement, it's important to find the best replacement for your home. Locksmiths can supply and install high-security uPVC door handles that have additional security features.
The most important measurements are measurement A (known as PZ) and the length of the backplate (measurement F). Take these measurements to make sure your new uPVC handle will fit.
Lever/Lever
A lever is a rigid bar that is pivotally positioned around a point (known as a the fulcrum). When you apply force towards the end, the fulcrum will tend to move in the direction of the force is applied. This motion increases the force and allows you to lift or move things that would normally require more force to lift.
The distance between the fulcrum and the place where you apply the force determines how far the lever can be moved. This is known as the mechanical advantage. The advantage in mechanical terms increases when the lever is extended. You can calculate mechanical advantage by dividing distance from fulcrum point to the place where you are applying force by distance between fulcrum point and the end of lever.
Levers can also have different effects based on how the forces are applied. For example, a class 2 lever has a tendency to turn in the opposite direction when the force applied to it (like a totter-totter). If you press on the handle of a door and force it to open, the forces will cause rotational effects similar to this.
However, levers don't create energy. They simply multiply the force you exert by converting a small amount of effort applied over a long distance into a larger amount of force applied over a shorter distance. This is what enables you to do more work in less time, and it is the reason why levers are frequently used to lift heavy objects or moving large amounts of cargo. The principle of the lever is also employed in everyday tools such as crowbars. Hammer claws, fishing rods and your own legs when you are standing on the hand brake of your car.

These locks can be used to replace the existing upvc door. The levers are lowered to open all multipoint locks and the key is turned to lock or close the door. They are more secure when compared to standard lever door handles since the locking mechanism can only be gained from the inside with keys unless the door is locked.
They are not as safe as a cylinder lock however they are cost-effective ways to add extra security to your home. The only disadvantage is that they don't offer the same level of security as a cylinder bolt, and consequently don't block access to outside when the door is left open.

Lever/Snib
Lever latches, which are the simplest of all door handles, are utilized. The lever is pulled down to open a latch inside the door, which can be locked using keys. Certain lever privacy handles operate in the same way, but with an additional knob, similar to a doorknob.
A snib is a very useful tool, particularly in homes where privacy and security are essential. If your partner is arriving home late from work, you can apply the snib button to ensure that they aren't allowed in until they're ready in. This kind of handle is also popular for interior doors, such as bedrooms, where you may require a lock to prevent access from outside.
Snib buttons can cause issues in certain circumstances, especially when you have old locks and warped doors. If the snib button is accidentally pressed, or by someone who is not familiar with it, your door may shut and lock you out. It is possible to gain entry by knocking the door frame or the letterbox. But, this is not ideal.
If your uPVC has a snib we recommend replacing it with an electronic lock from the E-LOK 7 Series.
